Halo 4: Forge Island

With the release as of today I can show off a couple shots from the new FORGE ISLAND. I; with some great guidance from Vic Deleon, made the main terrain seen on all three islands and created the seafloor texture as well as level clean up, some rock placements and a lot of back end stuff to help this thing run.

Thing A Week: Project 8 (Mech)

Actually got some questions; no really I did, "Hey Tim, what the hell are you doing? You haven't posted anything." Had a lot of stuff at work come up and that will always come first 3D wise but when I have my free moments I have been working on a Mech/Character. Its a very ambitious project because I'm taking a very well know character in the gaming community and I'm redesigning it so to break away from what is already know is a big gamble so I'm making it my BEST piece; for that week, then I'll make another cool thing. When I have something decent I will totally post it. Thanks for stopping by and check back in a few days :)

Thing A Week: Project 07 Part 03

Getting pretty heavy into finishing this thing up. Now I'm looking at a lot of beetles and bugs and larva and all that good jazz and looking at a bunch of mechanical engineering manuals online to see where I can add some of that good ol' this and that and what have you. Granted I know no Covenant Drop Ship would have so much exposed that would make them a bigger target but I'm going for a very techy, very advanced under the hood vibe so we can all see what makes it tick. Besides this is fan art anyway! Still more to do later today but here are some more WIP renders.

Thing A Week: Project 07 Part 02

Got most of the shell done, I want to get a nice solid base of a shell before I add on. I'm going to finish up the rest of the shell after work today then i can start on the fun hard surface stuff and then add onto the shell to give it that ol' timmy_d look I like so much.

Thing A Week: Project 07 Part 01

So taking the advice of good friend and co-worker Vic Deleon, I am going to make a more organic piece and since not only am I working on the team, I have always been a huge fan of Halo. I am going to do some fan art and make a Covenant Drop Ship BUT build on it and make it my own. Organic modeling is something I have a difficult time with so this alone is one big challenge. So there's a lot of things I have to take into account such as shape and flow. Organics as you may have seen if its not tight it looks like garbage. Here's what I have so far. Not much but its coming along and its clean and smooth as butter.

Thing A Week: Project 06 Part 03 (Jet Engine/Jet Turbine)

I'm calling this one done for the time being. Looked at the MiG-29 G/GT back end and brought this thing home and my computer thanks me for not killing it with more render passes.

Thing A Week: Project 06 Part 02

Got some more in, still have to do the back and fix up some details in the front to bring it all home. Here's what I have so far.

Thing A Week: Project 06 Part 01

Took a week off to recharge and went outside and what not but came back stoked on life to hit a new project. Working on a hybrid of jet engines and mechanical do-dads. Looking at a bunch of engines such as the J-58, MiG-29 and the J-33a and also trying out some hard surface techs seen from other artists such as David Lesperance. One of the main things I realized is if I build it exact to the reference, you won't be able to see anything because it'll just be a bunch of pipes on top of each other with no real form. So I'm taking artistic liberty to make something that's cool looking, functional and easier to read while staying true to the original forms. Here's what I have so far.

Thing A Week: Project 05 Part 04 (Sci-Fi Door)

Gotta' get this thing done, the door is where I want it to be at now. Think I just might keep it as a stand alone piece. It's time to keep this model train a rollin'
